Today we had A chat with the Enugu born young director; Director L, C.E.O c.e.o of “DL MONTAGE” , he revealed lots of information in regards to the music video and movie shootings.

Sunshine Music: Hello, Director L. It’s nice to have you here today.
Director L: (smiles) It’s my pleasure to be here too man. I’m grateful and excited too
Sunshine Music:: You look good today. What’s the secret?
Director L: (laughs) I don’t even know the secret either. Thanks for the compliment anyway.
Sunshine Music: Can we talk about DL MONTAGE?
Director L: Sure, we can. DL MONTAGE is part of me. It’s a media company which I happen to be the Chief Executive Officer. So, you can’t possibly talk about me without talking about it.
Sunshine Music: Briefly tell us about this your media company.
Director L: DL MONTAGE is a media company that has broad and versatile objectives. We do film, music video and advert productions.
Sunshine Music: You actually made a unique choice of career. How did you do it?
Director L: It’s actually less of choice. It’s all about passion and capability. I’m a director because I have passion for film making and I’m good at it.
Sunshine Music: How did you get this far as a director? I mean to attain this height is not easy so whats the secret ?
Director L: Far? (Laughs) I didn’t even know I’m far already. But whatever height I’ve attained, I think it’s because I’m good in what I’m doing. If I wasn’t good, people would’ve supported me, nobody would even call me to shoot for him/her.
Sunshine Music: What difficulty do you encounter as a young Nigerian director?
Director L: Every Nigerian should know that things are not very organized presently. At times I find it difficult to focus. Those above you will try to oppress you, your mates will try to fight you and the people below you will try to hate you because you’re doing better than them. I think everyone experiences this, regardless your field.
Sunshine Music: What do you think it’s missing in Nigerian entertainment industry today?
Director L: Simply “love”. We show more hate than love. We can’t help without looking for what we’d gain in return. We can’t be proud of who’s doing better than us, and equally the people on top oppress the upcoming instead of carrying them along. We are yet to understand that the top can contain everyone
Sunshine Music: Have things really changed over time since you got into the business ?
Director L: Yeah, actually, There have been rapid changes over time and we have to deal with that because one thing that is permanent in life is changes.
Sunshine Music: Can you tell us what have changed since you got into the business?
Director L: Errmm… From the past five years, a kind of revolution has taken place in Nigerian film and music video productions. There are more investors now, better quality productions, more advancements and in fact, film making has become more lucrative and job creating.
Sunshine Music: How important is social media for promoting your projects?
Director L: Very very important. Social media is a medium through which I can reach the whole world right from the comfort of my bed. Social media has helped my career a lot. and i thank God for bringing me to this generation where internet have fastened our successful life.
Sunshine Music: What is the best thing that ever happened to you while shooting?
Director L: Seeing everyone impressed with the concept I’m shooting. It gives me the insight that indeed I’m a good director you know, and having that feeling of the vibes of what you are cooking.
Sunshine Music: What is the one mistake most filmmakers make regardless of experience?
Director L: Our major mistake at times regardless of experience is shooting “what we like” instead of “what the audience would like”. We don’t always put the interest of the audience first, we just shoot and expect them to like it.
Sunshine Music: Do you have any award yet in your umbrella ?
Director L: No. Not even one yet. But hopefully, I’ll have an award soon and when i mean soon i mean international awards. LOL

Sunshine Music: Finally, can you share with us how much you charge per music video or film directed?
Director L: (laughs lengthy) If my village people sent you, tell them you did not see me (keeps laughing) The charge is between me and who I’m shooting for. Video shooting costs depends on so much factors. viz a viz,: the budget, locations, costumes , the type of project we are working on and the concepts and lots of calculations.
